    Job Description
    To coach UT Austin pre-health professions students regarding academic prerequisites and non-academic components in their preparation for application to professional school. Ensure HPO and CNS values are incorporated into all aspects of the position, especially student-centeredness, diversity, equity, and inclusion. - Provide advising individually and in groups to pre-health professions students as they progress toward and complete application to professional schools. Develop, select, and utilize effective pre-Health Professions materials for students pursuing a health professions career. Collect and utilize admissions data from Health Professions Schools. Manage the collection and dissemination of information about professional schools to students. - Stay current on admissions requirements across these disciplines: Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary, Pharmacy, Optometry, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy through outreach to in-state and out-of-state professional schools. Represent health professions programs and services in on-campus and off-campus meetings and at conferences. - Develop and implement resources and services for students interested in pursuing health professions careers in areas such as podiatry, chiropractic medicine, healthcare administration, orthotics and prosthetics, and public health. - Work with TIDES data team and Sr. Student Program Manager on matriculation and acceptance data. - Develop and present workshops for students. Teach and present to groups ranging in size from 25 to over 400. - Work with New Student Services on materials and activities related to orientation.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or related field, or equivalent experience. Two years of experience in academic advising, career services, or pre-health professions advising. Demonstrated project management abilities, interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and excellence in oral and written communication. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Must be able to occasionally travel, including overnight travel. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Master’s degree and more experience than above. Experience as a health professions advisor in a university environment. Experience working with health professions professional and graduate schools. Academic qualifications to be appointed as a Lecturer within the College of Natural Sciences and capable of researching and developing content, interactive exercises, and applying effective teaching methods for topics in professionalism and health professions for credit-bearing courses.
