    Job Description:
    The Boston College Career Center is seeking an individual with experience advising students through the professional (medical, dental, or veterinary) school application process or who is familiar with the process from personal experience. Due to the high volume of applicants applying to graduate programs in the health processions each year, we seek a coach who can help prepare students to successfully navigate the application process in medical, dental, and veterinary school and help students prepare for multi mini-interviews (MMI) and other admissions interviews. This role would work primarily with undergraduate students and recent alumni, up to 5 years post-graduation. Responsibilities Include: Advise students and alumni on the decision-making and application process to medical, dental, and veterinary school, offering up-to-date accurate information on developments in admissions and application procedures Deliver workshops to students on professional school exploration and the application process, including how to write strong personal statements Provide one-on-one and small group coaching for MMI and admissions interviews and personal statement reviews; update coaching records based on sessions with students Maintain or create online resources for students interested in professional school and admissions interview preparation and help to promote these resources to students Communicate, as needed, with external constituencies and campus partners regarding professional school advising Contribute to and participate in other Career Center events, programs, and responsibilities, as needed This position is an hourly contract position, 8-15 hours per week. Approximate dates are early-August through late-November and early-February through late-April to align with the full cycle of the professional school admissions process. Work hours will be arranged based on the needs of our students and the candidate’s schedule and will be greater in the fall semester. Competitive salary commensurate with relevant experience.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Industry experience either as a healthcare practitioner or as an admissions staff member for a healthcare professional school. Current medical, dental, or veterinary school students may be considered Familiar with current interview and admissions practices at professional schools Thorough knowledge of MMI interview methodology and must be able to coach students through the thought processes and strategies needed for success in the MMI interview Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills Commitment to working with diverse populations (e.g. AHANA, LGBTQ, first-generation) Collaborative and team-oriented working style and the ability to multitask and thrive in a changing, dynamic environment Demonstrated comfort with technology and willingness to use technology to deliver career programming and information

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Previous experience working with undergraduate students in an advising and coaching capacity on career-related topics is strongly preferred.
